IWHS Extracurricular Activities & Clubs

Music Ministry - If you love to play an instrument or sing aloud in mass, then go to Music Ministry. They practice and perform for several of the liturgies during the year.

Spanish ClubSpanish Club celebrates the Hispanic language and culture through food, games, and fundraisers.

French ClubFrench Club celebrates the French culture through food and parties. They have several crepe sales during the year that help to fund the club.

International Culture Club/Japanese ClubIf you are interested in new cultures, the International Culture Club/Japanese Club teaches about the different cultures that the world has to offer with food, art, and tradition.

Latin Club (ONLY for Latin students) - In Latin Club, students learn more about the language and history of Latin. They are also able to compete in Latin competitions during the year.

Theater - Theater Company/Club performs 3 to 4 shows every year ranging from drama to comedy. Anyone can come and audition or help with tech crew for each show.

Math and Science Club - Math and Science Club combines fun science experiments with challenging math problems and guessing games. The club goes on a scientific field trip during the second semester.

Literary Magazine - Each year, Literary Magazine publishes two editions filled with student submitted poems and art. The Lit Mag staff edits and creates each magazine.

Pax Christi - Pax Christi discusses the social issues of the world. Club members create posters and other material to teach students about the world around them.

National Honor Society (NHS) (for junior and seniors only) - Scholarship, leadership, service, and character are qualities all NHS members must possess. Juniors and seniors with a grade average of 93 or higher are selected to perform and help with the High Honor Roll mass.

Book Club - In Book Club, members read short novels and come together in order to discuss and share with other group members.

Film Guild - Fans of classic movies can join Film Guild and watch the golden age of cinema

Media Arts Club (MAC) - In Media Arts Club, members watch animated movies and “anime” while eating food and commenting on what they see.

Piano Club - Piano students and other members discuss upcoming events and concerts. Members are a part of the concert hosted in Mt. Erin.

Speech and Debate - Students choose literature to perform in tournaments that occur on a regular basis. They also plan the middle school tournament at the end of the year.

STUCO (Student Council)Student Council is the student government committee that plans dances, pep rallies, and various other events. Officers must run and be elected to be a member of STUCO.

GOLP (Guidance Office Leadership Program) - GOLP includes the mentoring program and the Fish Tips program. GOLP members mentor students and run Fish Tips classes. See the Guidance Office for more information.

Eucharist Ministers - In order to become a Eucharistic Minister, you have to be confirmed (and provide a letter of confirmation from your parish). Talk to Ms. Clayton for more information.

Ambassadors - Ambassadors give tours for middle schools and volunteer at the Open House events to show prospective students all about IWHS. See the Enrollment Office for more information.

Peer Ministry - Peer Ministry is a class for upperclassmen. However, you can still be involved with Mass. See Ms. Clayton for more information. 

Army JROTC (In Partnership with Alamo Heights High School) - Students are invited to join the Alamo Heights H.S. Army JROTC program. Interested students must contact the Registrar for necessary schedule planning. For more information on the program visit Alamo Heights JROTC Website.
